curious george – Hip decor with so-so food and good-looking low-IQ staff do not add up to a good restaurant. Service is not on par with a true upscale restaurant. A place for the trendy wannabes.
Poor value – Overpriced and over rated. Service slow and food not what I expected for the price paid
Go to WSM instead – I went there for lunch, and there was a decent variety of food, but it pretty much tastes like Weaver St Market and it costs more than twice as much.
Lunch versus Dinner – I think that it is somewhat misleading to keep the lunch and dinner ratings together, as the service, food selection... are quite different. I have gone twice, but only at lunch. I really liked the flatbread sandwich and love the opportunity to have a sampler plate of many of the different types of side dishs. Service is very fast as you mostly serve yourself. I do agree that it can be quite pricey, but will go again occasionally.
A triumph... – My wife & I experienced impressive, exquisite cuisine, impeccable service, & a most attractive setting - the experience was a true triumph! - Dr. Daniel Kolzet
jj gm – I had A great dinner Last night, after reading other reviews I was some what reluctant to dine there, but after going with my wife and friends we all thought the place was fantastic Service was prompt food was great the ambiance was like a place I remember In New York! We met the Manager he had mentoined a lot of changes had been made from behind the scenes he was very Charming but unfortunately ladies married! We look forward to telling our friends about this Venue Well done George!!!
mushy food – For a place called "Spice Street," this restaurant had apallingly bland food. We got calamari, sate, and salmon roll appetizers, all over which were ok, none great. The chicken I ordered had the most bizarre texture of any chicken I've ever had. It didn't taste rotted, but the consistency was so mushy it was as if it had begun to decompose. The restaurant was indeed beautiful however, and I hope they manage to get the food together. With some trepidation, I have to say I'm highly suspicious of the four reviewers... read more
Getting Better – Prior to dining at Spice Street myself, I had heard rave reviews from friends. I went to CitySearch to check it out for myself and I was dissappointed to see the poor ratings. I had already agreed to meet a friend there so I decided to see what all the fuss was about and try it out. Although we did not have reservations, we were seated (maybe) 15 minutes after arriving. While we waited, Alana served us a wonderful bottle of wine at the bar. Then we sat down and to my great surprise, the food was outstanding ... read more
BAD EATS – this restaurant has a great decor, but that's where it ends. the food is uninspring. for the price you pay, you would expect more innovative fare--fish is constanly undercooked, and flavors run on the bland side (where is the spice in spice street???). wait staff is inattentive for the most part. after being open for a while, these kinks should have already been straightened out. also, it is very offensive that the management feels they need to have a person hand out towels in the restroom. most people are caught ... read more
