I am truly baffled by the negative reviews. I have eaten here two dozen times at least since it opened and it has been outstanding every time. My standards for food and service are very high and they have never disappointed me. Anytime friends come to town this is where I bring them. I always get seated right away, the service is great and the food has always been top notch. This remains one of my favorite restaurants in town.
South has some of the most amazing waitstaff ! Happy, cheerful and like their jobs. One waitress in particular was fabulous!! Name was Ruby and gave the BEST SERVICE hands down ! Food was great and on time. Came right to our table and kept drinks filled, didn't have to wait forever for anything! I look forward to returning and hope we get Ruby again. Only complaint was one waiter who kept disappearing and came back smelling like cigarette smoke. Managers might want to talk to him about it .
Had a great lunch. Both sandwiches were delicious and the pavlova was excellent. Glad to have another good option in South Anchorage.
This place has gone down hill. Was amazing when it first opened but now can't even have someone answer the phone during open hours. Attention to details is lost
Brought in the new year morning with the day bar crew. They are so fantastic! Tyler and Marsha are the greatest! South is my new favorite local place and I look forward to the next time I go. Great food, great location, great service! Keep up the good work!
This is my second time here; I thought I'd give it another chance because of others reviews, but it really not worth the hype. Our order of mussels marinare was "lost" and we waited forever for our food. My hubby's grilled chicken sandwich was messy and impossible to eat because of all the dressing. My roasted beet salad was fine, but the grilled shrimp was soggy. We never got the mussels. This restaurant is trendy and cool, but does not deliver in good food.
I've had nothing but great service, wonderful eats and always a friendly atmosphere. Whomever I bring along with me has had nothing but a positive experience as well. So happy to see a great new spot open in south Anchorage.
I have a lot of dietary restrictions, and it's pretty much impossible for me to eat anything other than lettuce when I go out. South is always so accommodating, and I've been able to order multiple items off of the menu and every server I've had has been so helpful and kind about what I can't eat!
We stumbled into South Restaurant looking for breakfast on a cold morning. We were seated right away in a quiet spot in the bar. The food was excellent, service fast and the server friendly. My partner had a simple eggs and bacon breakfast, while I got some potatoes, bacon, eggs all gooey with exotic cheese sauce. Yum! The wine list looked good too, but too early in the day. We'll be back again to keep sampling. Nice to have a cosy spot with great food in the south corner of Anchorage.
