Smart start is the worst company my car has been broken down and not working for years. I called to have them take the device out they want ***** for it. Im not paying that. Its been off not used why would I pay for it unless Im gonna owe the equipment . I should just abs it towed with it in it. Ridiculous customer service. No payment plan no nothing. I am a single mom how the heck do I afford that.

Business response:

**************** had an ignition interlock device installed in her vehicle on August 3, 2017 as a requirement of the State of ****** DMV. At that time she signed a lease agreement with Smart Start and agreed to pay a $73 per month for the device and an additional $5 per month for the System Warranty, totaling $78 per month. **************** was last in for service on February 4, 2019; and has been in possession of the ignition interlock device since then. During this time the monthly fees continued to accrue with a current b... read more

I have 2 non running cars in 1 week due to interlock system installs and ****** says it can't damage your car. This is a lie. I took my 2011 ***** crz to have intoxalock installed after 6hrs was told they can't install it and now it will only run 30 seconds at a time. Bought a 2016 ******* and had a smart start install done and now will not start. They are triggering security system by cutting ignition wire. They don't know how to reset security. Smart start installer tried to make me have it towed to *******. I was finally ... read more

I'm at the ***************** in ********. When I first called I was told there was no installation fee. I show up they add a ****** disconnect fee. Fine Whatever. My problem is the installer is never here during business hours posted. It's 11/17@10:05 a.m. ,and the guy still hasn't shown up. I'm losing pay here. The whole experience has been horrible and you can't get ahold of anyone once you become a paying customer.

Business response:

Hello, we have experienced staffing issues at that location due to COVID and have been unable to open the shop during normal business hours. Due to the inconvenience I have issued a credit to the customers account for $79.99 (one month free service). Please contact Smart Start at ************** if further assistance is needed.

My experience with Smart Start Incorporated has been nothing short of a nightmare!. To start, I was forced to install this interlock device in my vehicle because in the *************, if a police officer request a BLOOD SAMPLE ON THE SIDE OF THE ***** during a minor traffic stop, if you refuse the request, there's an automatic revocation of your license and when/if you get it reinstated, if you then want to drive again ever, you have to have this installed for a MINIMUM of at least 18 months! So, regardless of whether or not... read more

You can't reach anyone to resolve my issue to have my paperwork sent to the dmv to restore my license I've completed my court order 12 months and I'm going on 14 months and can't reach anyone when I do my call is directed to a menu and call is ended I've been on the hold for hours multiple times

Business response:

Hello, I received information from our local Operations Manager that the compliance review was completed and the DL 380 Compliance to Penn DOT was sent. A credit of $75 was issued to the customers account, which will cover the removal fee since he just paid an additional $75 for another month lease. The Operations Manager will contact the client and let him know this is being done.

I had an in home device for over 12 months and recently replaced that with one of there car devices. I was told by the customer service agents and shop agents that I need not worry about the upcoming **** for my in home device since I now have the car device. While waiting for approval to return the in home device, it was past the 3rd of the month so it was locked out due to non payment. When I called I was told to just return the in home device when I can and not to worry about that ****. When I returned the in home device ... read more

Business response:

Hello, I reviewed ******************** account and will credit his account for approximately one-half of the monthly fee for the SMART Mobile device since he had the unit removed on August 13, 2021. The credit will be issued to his Smart Start account in the amount of $70.00. Smart Start does not pro-rate monthly charges however since **************** is now on the ignition interlock the credit can be applied to his ignition interlock.
