The Shellback Tavern came to life as The Knothole and then The Surf after World War II. Famous for their pizza and reasonably priced drinks, the location became an instant hit on the beach bar scene. The original owners were Don Hartsong and Ed Jamison. In 1973 local bartender Richard Swartz and his partner Jim Korshall purchased the bar and renamed it the Shellback Tavern. Love it here! It's a MUST if in MB or in the South Bay in general! I just so happen to have been a waitress there from 1991-1999!! Same amazing, awesome, beachy, chill out ,volleyball, surf & good food vibe!

If I could pitch a tent and move into Shellback's, I would. So if you don't like this fine establishment... Shellback's is not the problem it's you.
