About this business
The Shellback Tavern came to life as The Knothole and then The Surf after World War II. Famous for their pizza and reasonably priced drinks, the location became an instant hit on the beach bar scene. The original owners were Don Hartsong and Ed Jamison. In 1973 local bartender Richard Swartz and his partner Jim Korshall purchased the bar and renamed it the Shellback Tavern. There was hair in my steak. When I told the Melissa about it I was told they were making another one. They only cooked half a steak up not a whole order. I was told she explained what happened and that’s what they cooked up. She promised she would give me a free drink next time. I didn’t want a damn drink I want my food not to have hair in it. They never offered to comp the food either. We will never go back!!!’n
