About this business
The Shellback Tavern came to life as The Knothole and then The Surf after World War II. Famous for their pizza and reasonably priced drinks, the location became an instant hit on the beach bar scene. The original owners were Don Hartsong and Ed Jamison. In 1973 local bartender Richard Swartz and his partner Jim Korshall purchased the bar and renamed it the Shellback Tavern. It's my Happy Place for years in Manhattan Beach. It is the best beach bar in the country.

Good time, best bloody Mary mix in South Bay, kewl bartenders, Rico and Vincent were great! Good draft beer selection, good food, prices not crazy for beach location. Oh yeah, cute waitresses too!
