As an ode to his Israeli roots, Chef Alon Shaya created Shaya as an innovative restaurant with elements borrowed from his Middle-Eastern ancestry. Shaya's menu is a reverential treasure which was crafted with recipes from his grandmother. The chef attempts to blend the indigenous flavors of Israel with a New Orleans twist, and the menu features dishes such as the Louisiana Shrimp Shakshouka and the more traditional matzo ball soup, among others. In the spirit of his warm Israeli hospitality, some dishes are designed to be sh... read more

Fantastic! Have to try when in the area. Be sure you plan ahead and get reservations as soon as you can. Well worth it
Loved it. Pita is ridiculously good. All the starters are a must. Never even ordered dinner.
Worthy of the hype! The chanterelle humus is amazing. Great cocktail. Loved everything and the service was great
Incredible food & wonderful waitstaff. It is easy to understand why this restaurant is rated the #1 restaurant in New Orleans on TripAdvisor.

So glad you enjoyed your meal and experience. Come back and see us!
I've never had this type of food before so I was skeptical at first.. But I also am open to trying almost anything and I absolutely LOVED it. And our desserts also exceeded our expectations, we got the Malabi (which is very similar to a creme brûlée) and the Chocolate Babka which was a chocolate poppyseed cake with poppyseed ice cream on top. Will definitely be back. I... read more

Honored to be your first modern Israeli food experience! Thank you for the review. Please come back and see us soon!
Thanks so much for the hospitality during my wife's birthday. We enjoyed every dish. We had been looking forward to dining here for a while and it was all that we expected. Service was great, as well as the timing. Will be back!
Have to agree with what a friend said -- Acropolis is the best Med restaurant in the area. I was expecting the world and got slightly above average Med food. I can surmise that its critical acclaim derives from the chef's Beshian pedigree and the novelty of the food's provenance.
Flavors like I've never had before! Unique, delicious and the best matzo ball soup I could have dreamed of.
