As an ode to his Israeli roots, Chef Alon Shaya created Shaya as an innovative restaurant with elements borrowed from his Middle-Eastern ancestry. Shaya's menu is a reverential treasure which was crafted with recipes from his grandmother. The chef attempts to blend the indigenous flavors of Israel with a New Orleans twist, and the menu features dishes such as the Louisiana Shrimp Shakshouka and the more traditional matzo ball soup, among others. I'm 46 years old and hands down, bar none - this is the best meal I have ever had in my entire life!
Absolutely one of THE BEST restaurants I've ever been to!!!
The best food ever!! The service was excellent. Can't wait to go back.
The curry fried cauliflower hummus is amazing! Try the shared plates - 3 for $15 or 5 for $23, it's a great way to try different apps, but be aware that shared means just a couple of bites for 2 people.
The best restaurant I've eaten at in a long time. The Pita bread is addictive and the chicken sandwich, salads hummus was YUMM. Everything is delicious at this restaurant. Great atmosphere too.
The taste of the food was okay. Nothing special about the taste of the food.
Business response:
Yosra, we're sorry to hear your experience with us was not up to our standards. If you'd like to discuss your visit with us in more detail, please email our General Manager Shannon White at swhite@shayarestaurant.com
Absolutely off the charts. Who would think that in New Orleans the most sought after restaurant serves Israeli food? We basically harvested the menu and everything we had was better than what I had previously been served to us.from the several variations of hummus to the cuttlefish appetizer topped off by the lamb shank, the dinner and the service was superb. I would highly recommend this as perhaps the best restaurant in New Orleans at this time.
Business response:
Thanks so much, Gregg! We truly appreciate your patronage and these kind words.
It was our first meal at Shaya yesterday and all previous recommendations were spot on: we had the selection of 8 dishes in appetizer quantities and they were all flavorful, unique and delicious. I want more and will be back soon. :)
Superb food and drinks, excellent service. The fresh pitas taken out of the wood-fired oven are worth the trip alone!
Shaya has a 4.6 star rating with 2,821 reviews.
Shaya is closed now. It will open tomorrow at 9:00 a.m.
