As an ode to his Israeli roots, Chef Alon Shaya created Shaya as an innovative restaurant with elements borrowed from his Middle-Eastern ancestry. Shaya's menu is a reverential treasure which was crafted with recipes from his grandmother. The chef attempts to blend the indigenous flavors of Israel with a New Orleans twist, and the menu features dishes such as the Louisiana Shrimp Shakshouka and the more traditional matzo ball soup, among others. In the spirit of his warm Israeli hospitality, some dishes are designed to be sh... read more

Amazing food and service!! Bread is out of this world. I would recommend trying several of the "for the table" dishes.
So so yummy. Pita was the best ever. So many great flavors. Very reasonable prices for such great food.
Best mediterranean food ever. Being from Lebanon, I can say it is very authentic, I felt home. We went, my girlfriend and I (she is not lebanese by the way) 3 times to try eating at the bar. If you don't have a reservation, try to go at 11 when they first open, the place will get crowded and fills up quickly (in less than 15 minutes). Ask about Kate, she is so smiley and helpful. Highly recommended. Cant wait to go back soon. P.S: I am not related to the owner since we have different last names.
I visited NOLA for the first time and absolutely loved Shaya Restaurant. Kudos to the chef!
Excellent. Not a bad dish on the menu. By far best tabouli I've ever had! Run don't walk!
What a wonderful restaurant! In my top 10 personal list in the US. Really enjoyed trying different dishes, the service was fantastic and loved the vibe.
Homemade pita and the lamb ragu hummus are awesome. The Wagyu hanger steak is a must try!
What an absolute treat! Very nice welcoming vibe inside. Missy, Sean and all of the staff were very attentive. Presentation of food was creative, a twist on classic Israeli food. We enjoyed everything we ordered. The knish, hummus, and fresh baked pita were delicious. The salmon on a bed of barley with terragon sauce was my favorite!! Can't wait to visit Shaya again soon!!!
What can I say except that it's a true gem! Unique Israeli dishes to die for, excellent staff, and cool atmosphere. They bake the pita right in front of you in a huge modern wood burning stove and they serve it piping hot! We ate at the bar by choice and found the bartending staff to be very friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu and the drinks! The roasted cabbage was delish, as well as everything else! End your meal with the warm Babka with halva ice cream and poppy seeds #YUM!!! Whatever you order you can't go wro... read more
