About this business

As an ode to his Israeli roots, Chef Alon Shaya created Shaya as an innovative restaurant with elements borrowed from his Middle-Eastern ancestry. Shaya's menu is a reverential treasure which was crafted with recipes from his grandmother. The chef attempts to blend the indigenous flavors of Israel with a New Orleans twist, and the menu features dishes such as the Louisiana Shrimp Shakshouka and the more traditional matzo ball soup, among others. In the spirit of his warm Israeli hospitality, some dishes are designed to be sh... read more

We booked 3 months out but it was well worth waiting for. The food was delicious, the service was excellent (Delaney was our server). Next time we are in NOLA we will be back!

I didn't believe that my favorite Lebanese place's hummus could be bestes. Shaya did it! The pita is life changing. I would've liked a bigger portion if Israeli salad, but it was on point. The Lamb Ragu and Jerusalem Mixed Grill were INCREDIBLE. Service was fantastic too. Just a GREAT and reasonably priced spot.

The portions seemed small but when we started eating we realized there was a lot of food. The food tasted great, the service was very attentive and we enjoyed ourselves very much.

My only dissapointment would be in the reservations. I took the only open reservation for four months ago, much earlier than I wanted. I called and asked the week before, if it would be possible to change it a little later, and was told no, they were booked. After 3 hours of dining, the restaurant still had multiple open tables (8PM), he... read more
