As an ode to his Israeli roots, Chef Alon Shaya created Shaya as an innovative restaurant with elements borrowed from his Middle-Eastern ancestry. Shaya's menu is a reverential treasure which was crafted with recipes from his grandmother. The chef attempts to blend the indigenous flavors of Israel with a New Orleans twist, and the menu features dishes such as the Louisiana Shrimp Shakshouka and the more traditional matzo ball soup, among others. Excellent atmosphere, service, and most importantly food. We shared short ribs hummus which was my favorite. The Lamb is superb. Left feeling very content.
God BLESS the chef that prepared myself and my husbands food because that was one of the best entrees I've ever had. I rarely eat Middle Eastern inspired dishes but I must do it more often. I must come here again before I leave my trip.
Superb meal here. Every course delicious. The pita from wood fired oven was the best ever. The silken hummus with curried cauliflower and caramelized onion great. Amazing wood fired cabbage. Starts sous vide, finished in oven. Pita with three sauces, yum!
Short rib humus was a table favorite, wagyu steak was cooked perfect.
The food was delicious. We tried several small plates and was pleased with all. The service was excellent!
Amazing. Incredible variety of amazing flavors, a NOLA gem!
I would call it "The Ultimate Brunch Place". It's very modern, clean, and quaint. We loved the food, it's definitely unique and not anything you would get in a regular restaurant. They have amazing pita bread that you can never get enough of. With all that said, it's very, very, very snobby. The kind of place that asks you if you have a reservation when most of the tables are clearly empty. But I can totally get over a waitress rolling her eyes at us after we asked for a coke if I get to enjoy the amazing and delicious food.... read more
Pita bread melts in your mouth! Modern and clean, highly recommend!
Wonderful food, atmosphere and perfect experience of outdoor cuisine for our 18 year anniversary. We still cannot decide what our favorite dish was as they were all so good! And the house made sodas can't be beat!
