Great Thai, OK sushi, Poor service – I've eaten here many times, and honestly I like this place. The Thai food is excellent. The sushi is tasty, but most of it is overpriced, fried, and drenched in sauce. I'd stick to the Thai food. Try the Pineapple Shrmp Fried rice, served in a half pineapple. Ask for it spicy and you won't be disappointed. Now on to the not so good part. The service here is pretty bad. The past five times I've been here I had to track down a waiter/waitress after about ten minutes to get someone to even g... read more

Consistently Terrible Service – I have eaten at ShabaShabu 3 times over the past year, and I vow I will never eat there again due to the consistently terrible service. Yes, the food is good, but it is not above par when compared to other Thai or Japanese restaurants around the triangle, and given the rude, inattentive nature of the wait staff I would rather spend my money elsewhere. For example, the second time I was there I was with 4 other people and it took over 45 minutes for our beverages to arrive and an hour and a hal... read more

once good, now not – I went to shabashabu for lunch between Christmas and New Years, and was very disappointed. I requested shaba shabu for lunch, and was seated at the station. I found the overall appearance not very clean and the sauce dishes were dirty, and in general the atmosphere was bad right from the start. I was then handed a menu, but found that the shabu shabu was not offered at a discount for lunch any longer due to the time required to prepare. I complained both about these lack of cleanliness and lack of a disc... read more

Terrible Service! – The food at Shabashabu is not bad. However, the service is terrible!! Everytime we go there, it seems to take the wait staff forever to bring our water. It took forever for him to come back to take our order. Last time, we were there, we just finished our dinner and were sitting there chatting. The waiter came over and kept hinting to box our leftover and trying to rush us out of the restaurant. And it was only 8:45 pm and the restaurant is not supposed to close until much later. Horrible service and I wi... read more

Can't recommend the sushi – I can't recommend the sushi at ShabaShabu. I've been disappointed every time I've been there. Go with the Thai food and skip the sushi unless "okay" sushi satisfies you. There a other sushi joints in town that serve much better sushi.

excellent food and martini's – this is a great place for sushi or thai food, a little pricey but well worth it, very modern decor and bar- dj's on the weekends- fun seating. great for a group outing or a romantic dinner.

One-time favorite, will NEVER go back... – Shaba Shabu was once one of our favorite restaurants in the Triangle. It had a few issues (sticky tables, gas station-like bathrooms), but we were willing to overlook it because the quality of the food. That was until we decided to get a group together for a birthday and go. Reservations were made 4 days in advance and while we (18 people) were seated on time, it took 40 minutes and 2 requestes to get the first drinks. And I don't mean mixed drinks, I mean Diet Pepsis. Appetizers we... read more

Masterful Asian cuisine in an uptown, romantic environment. – In Short The decor is simple, clean and modern. Chairs, tables, silverware and plates are sculptural. The Thai dishes belie the flashy decor, as they are thoroughly authentic. Prepare for a spicy kick. Tom kha kai soup is luxuriously thick with coconut milk and fragrant with lemon grass. The chicken satay pieces are meltingly tender and surrounded with peanut sauce. The Japanese side features a sushi bar.

Great for party – I just had a birthday party for my husband at Shabashabu about a week ago. It was such a great experience. They let's me pre-ordered the food and arranged such a surprise for my husband. The food was delicious, we love it! I would also recommend shaba martini to anyone who looking for great martini. The only downside was that we have to have at least 10 people to reserve the private room which I guess understandable as their Thai private room was huge it could easily accommodate 30-40 people.
