I can't grade VBGH. I have had my surgeries at Sentara Leigh and Chesapeake Regional. My experiences at Leigh were great with Chesapeake Regional a close 2 nd. I received excellent care at Leihg. But, it's like everywhere you go, it just depends on the individual you get. Some are just nasty and are just there to get a pay check. They could care less about your care. Then you have those that genuinely care and are compassionate.

Want to say thank you to the nurses who have helped me a great deal over the past couple of days. Not only were they professional, but extremely friendly too. I wasn't just a job to them they really cared about how I am doing.

We were visiting our son in Oceana Naval base from NYC area on 2/19/16. We drove down and barely made it into VA when my husband had a full blown kidney stone attack. Frightening. He was in excruciating pain. This hospital was the closest to our hotel. They were great!!! Caring, concerned and on the ball from reception, triage, ultrasound to the ER. Dr Capps, RN Jenn, and RN Sam, saying thanks just doesn't seem enough. Yes, I did find the 24 hr pharmacy (Walgreen's) and they were very helpful also. Thank goodness for GPS!!! ... read more

The nurses are over booked on patients and you do not get the service that is needed or deserved. Day staff have very good bedside manner, however night staff on the 4th floor I can say otherwise. I will be talking to a patient advocate because it is not acceptable. If you come here make sure you have family with you to make sure you get the care you need and deserve because my grandma surely didn't.

This is the most amazing hospital we have ever stayed at and unfortunately we have had many other experiences with hospital stays. None have compared to the care & compassion we have received here. The team of doctors, nurses, and many other professionals have treated us with the utmost respect and amazing care to identify, prepare, perform and now recovery from heart bypass surgery. We highly recommend them and will truly be forever grateful for this team of professionals. The Riddicks
