I wish I could give this hospital 0 stars. I am disgusted by their gross miscare (no care) and fraudulent billing activity. My daughter is a student at Pitt. She called me and told me she was having vision issues. I sent her to West Penn thinking they were a decent hospital. She sat in the ER with a suspected detached retina for 3 hours. I've had a detached retina so I knew the signs. Well, after 3 hours they told her to head home and come back Monday as they didn't have an eye Dr on call. RecommendedThis is my first time here. I have to say every single staff member I have encountered has been amazing. I am here for pre term labor and the nurses from labor and delivery and antepartum care are just so attentive and have such compassion. You can tell they really care and have such positive attitudes and great bedside manner. I think this is so important for moms who are going through a scary/uncertain time. do not go here for emergency care. the staff is not knowledgeable and will do ONLY the very bare minimum just to get you off their patient list. they will give you the wrong information for a symptom you do not have and they will ignore anything you tell them, especially of it means more than the very bare minimum. if you go, hope they have great malpractice insurance, you'll need it for anything serious. be prepared to visit a different ER as they don't actually do anything.
