We're located on the water and offer test paddling every day, no appointment. We are family-owned and operated and do the best we can to give the best service on the planet.

RecommendedI've been a Rutabaga customer since we bought a Grumman canoe from them 40 years ago. The staff are always friendly and helpful, and the company supports local nonprofits. My most recent purchase was some gift cards.
Everyone is down to earth and helpful. The products are high quality. Prices are fair. The advice they dispense is sound. What more could a customer ask for?

Simply the best! Rutabaga Paddlesports is a treasure of a store and so much more. Local, independent, family friendly service in every encounter, with our pleasure of experiencing Rutabaga's Sea Kayak Symposiums, Youth Program Junior Leadership, and Canoecopias. Rutabaga is a paddlesports institution of higher learning.
Rutabaga is a great place to rent snowshoes. Wonderful customer service and quality snowshoes for a trip to the U.P. visiting the family cabin. As first-time snowshoers, we loved the option to rent them for $25 each (for the weekend) rather than paying more than $150 each. I have a personal policy against making recommendations. It's just not something that I do. Rules are made to be broken though, and Rutabaga in Madison, WI is a paddlesports store like no other that I have ever experienced. So yeah, I highly recommend Rutabaga Paddlesports.
