We're located on the water and offer test paddling every day, no appointment. We are family-owned and operated and do the best we can to give the best service on the planet.

We had a great time in the family canoeing class with our six year old grandson! Our teacher Nathan had Silas paddling with confidence in the front of the canoe within a half hour! Thanks to Nathan we had a very successful class! �

What a beautiful day and a great experience working with the staff at Rutabaga - we are new to kayaking and they were super patient and helpful. We bought (at their recommendation) at Canoeacopia and were able to get helpful advice and a great price. We would recommend Rutabaga to anyone...ANYTIME! :)

Just drove down from Minneapolis and came home with a Cetus MV. Dan Bowers made the whole experience easy and enjoyable. The only problem with Rutabaga is that they are too far from the Twin Cities. Thanks for the great service Dan!

Love this place. They got me over my fear of water by getting me into a solo boat. Now I have three of them and I can invite friends along. Boats, paddles, PFDs, camping gear, dry bags, outdoor clothing, outdoor footwear, books, maps, racks and other hauling gear, assorted nerdy paddling related things, all with friendly cheerful service. Sometimes on a crappy winter day, I just stop in to dream of paddling weather. Those are good days to buy their wool socks!
It is a shame when a vendor at Canoecopia has a part at the show but Rutabaga does not have it in their system. I had to special order the part. The vendor has to ship it to Rutabaga and then Rutabaga has to ship it to me. What a waste of resources when I could have taken the part home from the show! The Rutabaga employee told me I would not be paddling this week anyway. Bad customer service!!!
