When most guys retire, they decide to take it easy, maybe play a little golf or something. Not Russ Salvatore—he built a contemporary restaurant and luxury hotel to run in his retirement. Salvatore, who has been in the restaurant business over 40 years, founded Salvatore's Italian Gardens and Salvatore's Grand Hotel, which he operated until his retirement. We went for our anniversary, I badly wanted to love this place, but sadly it was subpar. To start our waitress didn’t even get our drinks until 30 minutes in, they were also wrong, when we kindly said they were the incorrect drinks, she seemed bothered. At 1 hour 20 minutes in we received our salads, this seemed very odd for any restaurant.
