Ruby s Diner was established in 1980, after junior-high buddies Doug Cavanaugh and Ralph Kosmides renovated a dilapidated building on the end of Balboa Pier in Newport Beach, Calif. The 1940s-style restaurant, which was located in a former bait shop, became an immediate hit, taking in $600,000 in the first year. In the second year, sales exceeded $1 million. Always never disappointing. The service and atmosphere is engaging. The food is fresh and we have never complained about s single thing
Its my favorite restaurant
Today is Ruby's 33rd Anniversary, and Mr. Ed and I each ordered the $1.99 Classic Burger Combo. Yummy! Everyone seemed like they were in a great mood, too!
Not a good experience. After being seated, we waited at least 15 minutes before ordering. People that came in after us were waited on first. No apology from waitress. Unprofessional.. VERY disappointed :-(
The diner is quaint and very clean . One feels like in the early days of soda pop/and pony tail as one gets in. Service is above average. Food is great . I would recommend it to people with big appetite
Nice atmosphere, hostesses were nice the shrimp and fish combo plate was good. Live in Covina long drive need one closer to home.

Good fresh food at a reasonable price. Friendly service good managers and an owner who steps up to give our community a place to eat show our cars and have a good time..Thank you Ruby's......
