The idea for Ruby’s Diner was born in 1980 after a run on the beach. Doug Cavanaugh had just returned to his native Southern California after successfully restoring and running a restaurant on Nantucket Island off Cape Cod. Yummy food and a great view!
As often as we used to come here for our date nights, my hubby & I have NEVER sat upstairs!! Today we did.....and sorry to say, I wasn’t to thrilled with it. When you go upstairs, the area changes COMPLETELY!!?? You are now sitting in a “tiki lounge”, the air conditioner was OUT, and the sitting area feels too crammed. Sorry to say, I’ll be finding another Ruby’s to enjoy. 🙁🤨

Fantastic! I was visiting from the East coast, and had lunch here, loved the uniforms & the retro style restaurant! Thank you for a great experience!
It’s fun to go to this little place after taking a nice walk to the end of the pier. The burgers are delicious and the shakes are awesome! The atmosphere and music is of a time passed. The waitresses wear cute uniforms of the time period. The booths are red vinyl and the counter has the old fashioned stools. There is a beautiful ocean view.
