Good and Fun – The food here is quite good. It is straightforward, reliable Italian. The atmosphere and service are super and the prices can't be beat. It's one of the best values on Capitol Hill. It gets crowded on the weekends but it's a fun outing.

standyby – A good italian restuarant when you can't think of anywhere else to go for Italian. The service was very good, the waitstaff was friendly enough, but the food was subpar. I had chicken parm and that is all I got. No veggies, no pasta... the chicken was juicy and had good taste, but the sauce had to come from a jar...As an Italian myself, I couldn't believe that an Italian restuarant would deny a dish it's allotment of pasta and try to pass off a generic sauce...the atmosphere was nice and cozy, but I think the food... read more

Molto bene! – A great little neighborhood Italian restaurant (and my personal favorite). I'm not sure what I like best--whether it be the cozy bar, the friendly service, or the delicious food. This restaurant gets my highest (and most frequent) recommendation.

been disapointing – Ive been here a couple of times- but both were a let down..for the price, the servings are small, and the meals tasting a tad uneventful. My pasta was about 5 minutes premature of "Al Dente" and the sauce was quite dreary. When asked if we would like a coffee or desert, we were informed that they didnt make espresso,etc...only a brewed coffee..The bar downstairs however is quite cozy on an Autumn evening, and has atmosphere happening. All round im sure most people are happy with it...we may have just had ... read more

My husband and I love to go here for a super yummy meal. Not much for vegetarians, but what they do have is great! The place is small, but that's what I like about it. The wait staff is fantastic and I like the family atmosphere (minus the children) that they have. The food portions are much better than most Italian restaurants. They spend more time on quality rather than quantity. Pretty pricey, but it's a good special occassion place. I'm drooling just thinking about it.

Lively! – A great place for a loud and bustling meal. The tables are fitted right next to eachother, so intimate dining is not the ticket here. But it's quaint, the food is excellent, and it's a very fun time. Be prepared to have a drink while waiting for your table (they don't take reservations). A fun place to take a friend, just be prepared to talk loudly!

Snug quick food – You have to wait a bit for service, I wouldn't call it romantic (pretty small and crowded), but a great place. The spinach ravioli is very good, and the Tiramisu is the best!

why can't there be more like Machiavelli – The greatest place for a casual dinner with friends. The Tuna Carpaccio is the greatest, it calls to me even when I'm out of town. Pasta dishes have always been excellent as well. My favorite is the gnocchi with tomato-basil sauce. Service is professional without the constant annoyance that so many places seem to embrace. Loud and busy, in the best way. Very, very good food.

Very Pleasing! – Machiavelli has always been an enjoyable meal-the place is nothing fancy, but when the food is this good it doesn't need to be. It's simple Italian the way it should be and very moderately priced. Service is usually good but could be a bit better.
