The best steak! – Seattle, I am convinced there is NO better steak on the west coast than the filet mignon at Machiavelli. I have tried Many but this is it! I love the pasta selections but the steak is to die for!!!!!
Great lasagna – All of the dishes I've tried here have been good, but I have a list of Italian resaurants that are great for them to compete with. What sets this place apart is the lasagna! My favorite is the spinach lasagna, but don't be fooled be the name, the surprise is the chicken liver! This dish is amazing! I've had it a few times and have never been disappointed. Be sure to go early and allow time for seating and half an hour for the lasagna to bake.
Machiavelli Ristorante – Looked for a restaurant before a show at the Paramount and saw this place, so thought, "what the heck." We were we so happy with the choice. It is so inexpensive and the food was delicious! INot to mention everyone was so friendly (that was refreshing) It's small so there could be a wait, but have a couple cocktails in the cute (but smokey) bar downstairs. Have sent others there and they were just as pleased.
Two thumbs up from an Italian – I was once told you caan tell how good a restaurant is, just by tasting the bread. Well, the bread here is great, and that is just the beginning. This restaurant is fabulous. The wait can be long for a seat, but it is well worth it. What I like to do is relax and grab a glass or two of wine while I wait in the bar area. I usually split the Copa and Garlic Pizza as an appetizer (soooo delicious!), and eat either the spaghetti with meat sauce or the tortellini with a meat or meatless sauce. My f... read more
This place makes me sad... – Everyone raved, so I went. The food was good - not great, but solidly good. Unfortunately, the hostess was HORRIFICALLY rude - If I'd been raised any differently I'd have seriously pondered asking her to step outside! The service was okay - friendly, but rushed and inattentive. I guess it just wasn't worth the hassle, y'know?
faboo – love this place, the food is excellent, the price is right, the service is always great.
A touch too loud – While I certainly recommend this restaurant's food and service, its ambience left something to be desired. I went on a first date with a lovely young lady, hoping we could have productive conversation over pasta. After an hour wait, we were seated in a rather awkward table and the sound level was nearly deafening. We shared a mutual look of mildly disappointed curiosity and had a seat. The food was great, the service was friendly and very prompt, but I would recommend asking for a seat near the windows as ... read more
oh boy what a treat – There is no better place on capitol hill to get this kind of service, ambiance, and great tasting food for such a ridiculously inexpensive price. The servers are all fast and friendly (plus fun and engaging) , the food is great and its a great place for a date or a quick dinner before going out. My boyfriend and i go to Machiavelli about twice a week (at least once) and we have never had a bad experience, except when we cant get in on the weekends right at dinner time. It's a great neighborhood place an... read more
New York flair in Seattle – This place makes you feel like you are dining in the "big city" -- close-but-cozy bar and dining area, great service and "get you outta here" promptness gets you going to the show on time. We loved our simple Italian meal and the hustle-bustle atmosphere that makes you feel like you know everyone in the room by the time your meal's done. Fun and recommended, especially for those who like the conversation-starting experience of seeing/meeting interesting others in the room. PS -- I was on crutches ... read more
