Went last Sunday, Fathers Day. Sat in patio area. This place is overrated, overpriced. Service horrible. Food ok. Drinks come in small, very small plastic cups. Ridiculous. $100.00 bill, for poor service, average food. Only thing this place has going for it is location. Even the Managers stink

Worst of everything................. – Worst of everything to offer: 1) Worst service 2) Worst food 3) Worst environment to eat and gather 4) Wait staff could care less 5) Wait staff expected a gratuity for horrible delivery 6) Never bother going back, better to go to Wendy's or any other fast food service in town 7) Need a rating lower than the lowest offered

Disappointed. – My wife and I have been to Rick's a great many times over the years and we have seen a definite change for the worse. On Saturday, September 5, 2010 at 2PM were were served food with hairs in it. Our server apologized and gave us a bill credit., Moments later the manager walked past our table and said nothing. Ricks Boatyard cafe of Horrible service – Horrible! lived in Indy all my life and never been until May 2010. The wife has been asking me to take her there for yrs. Finally we decided go. We made reserv. 6 hrs in advance for 8 pm on a Sat. night. The troubles began as soon as we arrived. Reservations Dishonored – I made an on-line dinner reservation for 7:30 pm. I arrived at 7:25pm, checked in and was told it would be 5 to 10 minutes because they needed to clear off and set up a few tables. After waiting more than 20 my wife and I left. This was our 5th Wedding Anniversary and thanks to Rick's it was ruined. If I did not have a confirmed reservation then I should wait as long as I have to wait to be seated. Worst Service Possible – Visited on a Sunday afternoon expecting to sit outside listening to live music. Instead, due to cloudy weather that morning (it WASN'T and DIDN'T rain while I was there or later) the musicians played inside much to our disappointment. Better Choice than the other Seafood Restaurants – If you like the taste of seafood and taking someone along who doesn't, Rick's Cafe Boatyard is a recommendation to consider seriously. It was funny as I also checked into the reviews of Rick's and was concerned about comments of slow and poor service. I looked at the dates to see how recent they were. Give yourself some time – The food and drinks were pretty good, I had the mahi-mahi sandwich which was a bit dry,and my date had the New York Strip which I sampled and it was excellent. Hickory smoked and cooked the way he asked for it. I'd stick with the specials (drink-wise) or the seasonal beer. Our service, especially on the deck was very, very slow. Don't go for the service or the food – The only reason to go here is for the location, which is unbeatable. The food is OK, but not that special, and the service is indifferent. And if you drink out on the terrace they give you plastic cups, which does a good job of killing the atmosphere. I knew a waitress who worked here, and the strories she told about the management explained why the staff are not always on top of things. Rick seems to have an attitude, and it unfortunately shows.
