Dr. Minter was horrible to deal with. When I didn't respond to his first two rounds of medication, he got very testy and callous with me. When I asked if I coudl bring my husband along for support, he said no, that he wouldn't speak to him because it would be treating me (the patient) like a child! Even though I had requested my husband for support. I found him very aloof and would not recommend to anyone.
Dr. Minter has been my psychiatrist for years now. He has a calm, intellectual, professional presence. He has been treating my depression and sleep problems, and we meet to adjust my medications based on his questions. Meetings are always timely and quick. The staff, Pam and Scott, are very friendly.
He was treating my daughter after her psychologist suggested that medications might help her. In the first ten minutes, he diagnosed her with Bi-Polar, (something the psychologist never suggested after a year of treatment), and then put her on meds. She never seemed to get any better, in which he insisted that the dosage was the problem and not the meds, in fact she got worse, to the point where the school wanted to contact him about her behavior. He became angry at that point, refused to write the report the school asked fo... read more
He really only asks a few basic questions, and sent me out the door. I only need to see him once a year for a medication refill.
Referred to him because my primary care physician was going to be out of town for two weeks. He misdiagnosed me and totally negated the health problems I was having. He kept increaseing dosage of medications even knowing I was having some unpleasant side effects. After initial crisis was over I started looking for a new provider to help get me off the meds he put me on--that were actually causing an increase in the anxiety I was dealing with. Does not deal well when questioned about diagnosis or medication.
He listened to all I had to say and asked important questions. His manner was very calm and un-accusing and I felt comfortable with him despite having anxieties around doctors. He was very helpful in diagnosing my problem.
Dr. Minter was the chief resident of the psychiatry dept. at Mass. General Hospital when I was seeing him in connection with some false accusations that had been made against me in connection with a child custody battle. At my very first session he whipped off prescriptions for Navane and Artane, drugs that I never took because I didn't trust him. I didn't trust antipsychotic drugs that had been prescribed with almost no knowledge of me. He misdiagnosed me as paranoid schizophrenic when in fact I turned out to have multiple ... read more
I saw this doctor several years ago. He misdiagonsed me as bipolar. Put started me on a high dose of Depakote, which made me hallucinate. Then told me that the medication didn't cause it. Yet I phoned Abbott Pharmaceuticals the maker of Depakote and they said it is a very common side affect. They even suggested I find another doctor. I had never had hallucinations and have never had any since. Went to another doctor and was prescribed antidepressant and was told I am not nor have ever been Bipoloar! His wife was his secretar... read more
Refuses to speak to family members, which is crucial specially when the patient is at a crisis. I would not recommend to anyone.
