Dr. Rekant may or may not be a skilled hand SURGEON, but as I saw him for a non surgical issue (dog bite), he demonstrated the bedside manner of an indifferent and uninterested doctor. His fellow was thorough and kind; Dr. Rekant was brisk, insulting, and dismissive. I would not take my dog to him.

Diagnosed without viewing the exray. When I asked if I should get the exray so he could view it, he replied that he was 99% confident of his diagnosis and he wasn’t going to change his mind. If I disagreed, (which I did because he didn’t review the radiologist’s report or even look at the exray or want to do so) that was my right. “That’s why they’re called opinions. Everyone can have one.” Even though the condition he so glibly diagnosed requires options, suggestions, follow-up, and patient help, he offered none other than ... read more

Both pre and post operative Communications were poor. Did not help analyze and discuss consequences of surgery.

Dr. said that he can't make a fracture appear when there isn't one??. I then walked around suffering with a fractured hand. Primary Dr. had to order an MRI. It was a nightmare getting it approved because I had a positive reading from Jeff University! Rekant changed my records to reflect the positive MRI. He stated that he discussed surgery with me and my husband. He said that I opted not to get surgery. Total lie! He never even touched my hand or had any such conversation! Don't go to him!

Although Dr Rekant may not have the softest bedside manner, he is nonetheless a very talented and skilled surgeon. He performed a carpel tunnel and ulner nerve release on my left arm with exceptional results. He is direct and matter of fact which is fine with me. I went to him as a former top doc, indicative of his skill sets. TJ

I got a Tell you,I don’t usually come to the Internet for opinions but after the opinions that I have read here, (my hand is really hurting me and I don’t know why) he was the first person I chose to maybe make an appointment with. maybe this doctor should care about the opinions of people on the Internet because there’s no way that I would go to him now maybe he thinks that bad opinions on the Internet don’t make a difference in his life but I think they do! I would never go to him now. !

I had elbow surgery to remove extra cartilage and he damaged my radial nerve. 4 years later and I'm still suffering. I shouldn't have had the surgery, being that he basically did the surgery without an MRI or looking at my previous MRI (previous MRI was from an out of state Dr). I would NOT recommend him.

His bed side manner is awful and inconsiderate. Very emotional if, someone else beside him, makes a suggestion. He doesn't feel like an "educated physical therapist" can make a decision for a patient that they are working with daily. He may have perform my surgery, but that's it! He doesn't even examine me! He's only a surgeon and acts like he is NOT capable of doing anything other then that, he doesn't help, listen to patients or professional suggestions even from a PT. He feels he's superior!

I had hand surgery in June by Dr. Rekant. It is 3 months later and my hand feels worse than before surgery. At my first post op visit when I tried to tell him how much my hand was bothering me he dismissed me as if it was my fault saying "Your just not stretching it enough." I had done everything he told me to do. My hand remains swollen and painful to this day. I am seeing another Dr. for further treatment. I would never recommend this surgeon, I found him to be arrogant, was awful treatment
