Started with a liter barrel, just to see. It shipped quickly. Cured quickly. I filled it with the most god awful swill you can buy. A 1.75 that was undrinkable - even with coke. Let it go for almost 4 months. The result is amazing. It's smooth and delicious. As I sipped that first glass, I ordered my 2nd barrel. This time a 3L. I'm going to fill this one up with one of the mass market brands. I'd recommend using a higher proof though because the Angels are making off the alcohol. I'm very happy with my purchase. I'm very hap... read more

I will not go no where else to get my Barrels, Red Head has the best quality and workmanship I have found to date. A fantastic crew to say the least, I have always gotten a speedy reply back with any questions I have had. Top notch for sure.

My wife bought me the whisky kit for Valentines Day, and I just used a bottle of Titos Vodka and 2 drops of real vanilla extract. I just poured it into the glass container, which doesn't hold all of what is in the cask, forcing me to consume a portion immediately...it was very smooth and light - I started my second batch minus the vanilla and will let it sit for much longer to see if it captures more of the oakiness. all in all this is my favorite gift ever! One item of note, the bung seal ring gets torn quite easily, and wi... read more

I ordered a 3 liter oak barrel. Received several followup emails with order and shipping status. I believe that I received the barrel within 3-4 days. After rinsing the barrel a couple of times with hot water and then filling the barrel with warm water it did not leak a drop. I was ready to fill with my Manhattan recipe. This is a very tight, well made barrel which has produced an amazing cocktail.
