These are well worth the investment. They make operating locks so much easier as you can click the lock mechanism one click at a time in a position that works for you. I work as a lock keeper and do 20 - 30 locks a day. They don’t fit every lock (eg Hatton flight) but that’s the beauty of random canals!
Worked very well once I got used to it......but developed some rust on the weld.... I reported this by email and received a phone call within half an hour offering a replacement and telling me they have changed their welder....the new windless arrived within 2 days....I thought this was excellent service and so friendly and polite. Since this can be used long or short arm it certainly saves me carrying 2 windlesses around
I used my Go Windlass for the first time last week on a trip from the Shroppie to Llangollen. I had an arm injury so wanted to operate locks just using my left arm. The Go Windlass was brilliant and allowed me to avoid straining my injury further. It took me a little more time than usual, but this is ‘canal time’ so no rush. Several people stopped to watch me use it and were impressed, so I hope they decide to buy one! It’s a game changer.
