incompetent and neglectful
This is great to expand & grow for our community, but Rapides Regional lacks in the ability to hire enough staff to take care of the patients properly & the older part of the hospital has been neglected. The last time we were there, was sad! The rooms were dirty, unkept with air vents full of mold & a build up of thick dust. RecommendedMy daughter had to be admitted last week. This was the first time I had ever had a child sick in the hospital; so it was definitely a scary experience. I have to say, the nurses were all amazing! Pediatrics nurse Jennifer (Miss Jenny) was an absolute angel!! As a healthcare worker myself I have to say miss Jenny is absolutely amazing. RecommendedMy 16 year old daughter was transferred to Rapides to be treated for injuries from a motor vehicle accident. All of our concerns were addressed and we were treated very well throughout her entire stay. While everyone was great, the ER staff (Dr Russell Smith and nurse Cynthia) as well as her nurse (Vilma) on the pediatric floor all went above and beyond to provide care for her. Bad experience with a PA/NP missing diagnosis for pneumonia and double sinus infection. Sent 75 year old patient home with OTC meds and direction to STOP taking antibiotics prescribed by primary care doctor!
RecommendedI had major surgery there last week and let me just say, Nikki, Katrina, Ms. Gloria and Ms. Peggy were my angels. I was afraid to be in the hospital but these ladies made me feel so safe and cared for. I couldn't have asked for a better team.

They use a different doctor for the patient every week so there is no continuity of care. The nurses have bad attitudes, particularly on the stroke unit floor and violated code of ethics. When I called the patient advocacy line, she didn’t care and defend them saying it’s okay for them to be rude and curse at me because “the hospital is understaffed and so the nurses are stressed.” What?!
