My mother is currently in Rapides as I am writing this message. She was admitted from the ER due to a bowel obstruction. The response from the nurses is ridiculously slow. We have been asking for her medication for hours. Called the nurses station multiple time and I have spoken to a head nurse who said the problem would be resolved. An hour later we are still waiting for her medication. She has been waiting to be changed for an hour. I realize the problem is that they are understaffed but this is absolutely outrageous. We have had a very positive experience at Rapides Regional Medical Center. My precious sister had a massive heart attack and was transferred to Rapides. Today is Day #30 for her stay. We could not have asked for better care for her. My sister was treated with compassion and professionalism by everyone that cared for her, from CNA's, Nurses, Respiratory, and Physicians. We are so thankful for Dr Medford in ICU, Dr Rizvi, and Dr DeWitt. We can't thank you enough for all that you did to save our sister. We are forever thankful ... read more
The nurses and aids are fine but my sister is in the old section of the hospital and the room is so small. The sofa that turns into a bed is hard plus it is right under the computer where they have to use. Very unusual.
I think Rapides Women's and Children Hospital is great. The service is excellent! Great job!!
Rapides has always been home to me yesterday I went in for one problem but the doctor didn't give up he did a complete work up and found something else wrong with me who know what would have happened if I would have just went back home Thanks Rapides I love u guys so much
I had a bad experience in their gift shop today, I will no longer shop there and ask that other people don't either. Tried to buy a ring for my husband ,who's been here 18 days. Was told my purchase didn't go thru, I said okay and went have lunch, while checking my email I discovered, my account had been debited for the ring. Went back to gift shop to show them the email, even called the bank and let them talk to gift Shop employees. Refused to give me the ring or my money back. So the rich get richer. The service and workers were awesome but the ICU waiting area could use a little more comfort for those who has to stay long nights all they have is straight chairs and you are not even allowed to stretch out flat on the floor. One poor lady was there on her 20th night with her husband. Can anyone imagine staying in a hard straight chair for 20 days and nights? If the ones that made the rules of no one on the floor and put those chairs in there had to stay there I bet there would be some changes.
There new beds are awesome, and the staff .thank you very much .
