About this business

Porcini – Philadelphia is a small BYOB style Italian restaurant in the Philadelphia Metropolitan and Center City areas. The restaurant is housed in around 1840's coach home, they serve creative Italian cuisine and fresh made pasta. Some of the highlights from their wide menu are the top cut veal medallions in lemon caper white wine sauce and chicken breast medallions layered with thin prosciutto. The historical Sansom Street is just a few doors away. So while enjoying your visit there, drop in and savor the delicacies ... read more

With so many outstanding Italian BYOB's in Philadelphia, don't waste your time and money at Porcini. – I completely agree with the last reviewer. This restaurant was very inconvenient. When making reservations, they were adamant that we arrive on time. We were all there on time but the table was not ready. We were sent to purgatory upstairs and told that someone would be along to look after us. After ten minutes, one of us went back down to at least get a corkscrew. We were assured that someone would be up to help us. Someon... read more

Mediocre at best – We don't understand all the good reviews. The food and service on our visit was sub-par. Based on the prices and reviews, we expected some yummy moderately upscale Italian. As far as food, we started with bruschetta which was burnt on the edges. For the main courses, we had bucatini (which was a good portion size but nothing special in terms of taste) and ravioli (which was a really small portion and not tasty at all). The wait staff was also weirdly unaccommodating. We asked if we could order appetizers t... read more

Good for a snack. – Quite disappointing. We went there on a whim. Appeared charming from the outside. The small space didn't bother us at all. The waiter was very nice, and the (?) owner seemed friendly. The bread was lousy (out of a plastic bag from WaWa). Seems like an easy/important thing to do right in an Italian restaurant. The portions were small for the price - very small. The food was reasonable/good, but certainly not worth the money we spent given the size of the portions. The presentation of the food left a lot to... read more

New favorite restaurant – I recently dined at Porcini's for the first time upon the recommendation of close friends. They had raved about the great food and genuinely friendly owners and staff, calling Porcini's their favorite restaurant. We were a party of four discriminating diners on a Saturday evening. To say the least, I fully understand why this great restaurant came so highly recommended. I had been warned that they get very busy and only accept reservations for parties of six or more. With that in mind, we arrived ea... read more

Perfect Food Portions in Cozy Setting – ..So the Host lingers around the dining room; and the bread basket and olive oil is of an amount appropriate for the table. So what!? The Entree portions are exactly what they should be and they are delicious at that. Perhaps the problem is that most people don't feel satisfied unless they are stuffed beyond belief with a doggie bag in hand. I wish more restaurants would serve sensible portions. We have eaten here 5 times and every time we leave feeling satisfied but not stuffed. Oh an... read more

Awful! My dad has never stiffed a waiter.... – Until now. The bottom line is do NOT go here. Our Porcini experience was the most bizarre we have ever experienced & we dine out often. I assumed that people who mention fights with waiters on these review sites are generally volatile people, but we are a nice normal family. We?re shocked that this restaurant can still be open. The 2000 word limit prohibits me from writing about all of the problems we encountered- but trust me, there were a lot. I?ll just focus on the most unbel... read more

Loved it! – No one should listen to any negative reviews of this restaurant. We had four people (two couples) and each of us ordered different items for appetizers and entrees, so we had a good sampling of everything. Every dish we had was delicious! The service was terrific and soooo friendly! It is a little crowded, but I think it makes it more fun....and it was very cool throughout the restaurant despite the amount of people in the space. I do wish the portions were a little bigger, but not b/c I left hungry, I think I'm ... read more

Hey Terence I was your sever for the evening, I was just wondering why you would not tell the whole story, is it because you dont want to look bad. I just wish you would have wrote, why I gave your money back. I told you that you were rude, I was not showing loyalty. I didnt want any extra money from you, you complained that you wanted to be compensated for something..(your bill was $100 for 4 people to come drink your wine and have great quality food. "When the owner said no im sorry I cant compensate anything" you started ... read more

What are these people talking about? – Porcini is our go-to place when we want romance and good food. We had one of our first dates here and will always hold a good place in our hearts. The waiters are friendly; the owner visible and warm. The food is fantastic. The portions are perfect. You leave feeling satisfied, not stuffed. The people who complained about having no doggy bags should go back to the Olive Garden. I highly recommend the seafood risotto, which is a special. The best I ever had. The closeness of the tables g... read more
