I've been banking with PNC, former Riggs bank for over 15 years. In the last 5 years PNC had become very greedy and applies fees as their convenience. I have set up "overdrawn protection", which charges $10 per transaction, however PNC rather reverse my payment and charge me $36, in the mean time I had already deposit the missing founds in the same day of the original charges. Very Negative customer service ever since PNC bought my mortgage from another bank. I seem to have to constantly call them to get things resolved. First, I had to demand that they send me a mortgage statement. After I got my automatic statement set up about a year later they forced me to to go to their bank website and set up an account there, more work for me. They recently cancelled it. Terrible bank. Terrible customer service. Tried to get a fee waived and was told no. Asked to have the account closed and was told I couldn't close my checking account without being charged an "early termination fee". A checking account with an really termination fee? Really? Even cell phone companies have seen the ill effects of such practices. Unbelievable. Customers beware!

I have submitted an application for a home equity installment loan. I was told that I do qualify and once submitting all of my documents, that they will be in touch with a decision. on the 3rd week I was told that everything would \work if my repayment period was extended an extra year, so I agreed and continue to close on my condo, which is pending based on this decision. I was not able to make a money-order purchase due to a security hold. After one hour and 3 calls with customer service they failed to resolve the hold.

I have run into two major problems. Problem 1: PNC inactivated my checking account even though transactions go through it every month to pay my PNC mortgage! We were drawn by the $0 closing and refinanced, then told at closing that we had to open a PNC checking account. They made errors for several months (mis-applied additional principal & even lost a hand-delivered check). I overpaid my mortgage (I put and extra zero on my bill paid and sent $15,000 instead of $1,500) on June 31. Called PMC and spoke with a manger that same day. I even got my online payment center customer support rep from my band on a 3 way call. We found out what needed to be sent from myself and my bank to get the $13,500 overpayment back. Sent all the documents in on that same Wednesday. I call PNC Friday to get my refund status. Horrible customer service. I was issued an incorrect 1099 for the closure of my mothers investment account due to her death. The incorrect death date was used and I was unable to file the tax forms in a timely manner. After many phone calls to the PNC customer service number and many months, leaving messages for managers and receiving no call back - PNC employees refused to reissue a revised 1099 so I could complete the taxes to settle my mothers estate. Absolutely awful experience. I have been a customer at this bank for years, and still am but am currently overseas in South America. I never had a problem with using my banking card at the ATMs here, for now 6 years. A cash deposit was made to my account on Wednesday, May 31st. Once I saw the funds were available to be taken out I went to the ATM, only to have the card suddenly rejected.
