Pizzeria Uno

About this business

Deep-dish pizza is synonymous with Chicago and at Pizzeria Uno, the kitchen claims to have invented the famous pie. Lou Malnati may disagree, but nonetheless Pizzeria Uno has played a big part in Chicago culinary history. The pizzeria has since moved around the country as a franchise, but this location is the first. On weekends and during busy summer events, the wait time to get a table can be long, up to two hours sometimes, but it is worth it. The one-of-a-kind crust, loaded thick with toppings make the pizza very hearty; ... read more

The worst pizza – My husband & I went to Chicago for the first time 2 weeks ago and wanted to try the real Chicago style pizza. We selected Pizzeria Uno because it was the orginal and was suppose to be the best. We were seated fairly quickly, however the service was pretty bad. We ordered water and a cheese bread appetizer which never came, when my husband inquired, the server said she forgot. The pizza came about 45 minutes later and all I can say is that we were very disappointed. We ordered their combo pizza and all you t... read more

Uno is like a romantic walk back into time. – The heritage shines through the small mansions that house Uno and Due. To get a fresh brick-oven fire pizza in this setting is how it was done back in 1943 when Uno got it's start in Chicago. The difference in Uno's nationwide is the Chicago Grill side of the menu featuring items not available at the downtown originals. Also visit SuCasa, Uno's Mexican Restaurant, next door to Due...the founder's in-laws restaurant.

The BEST! – The last time I was in Chicago, I ordered 2 pizzas from Uno's and flew them home with me to Phoenix! They may have been just a little cold but I wanted my friends at the fire station to taste what real pizza was like! Simply the BEST!

I love Uno's! – I have visited the franchises in the suburbs and they are WONDERFUL. This is a pizza I will get specific cravings for. Theirs is the best crust out there--all buttery and flaky. Salads are always crisp and fresh. I'm starting to drool just thinking about it!

busy, busy, busy – i was not impressed by uno. because of the popularity of this place, there was over an hour wait to be seated. we placed our pizza order before beginning our wait and overheard a waiter telling a customer that the pizzas are cooked 2/3 the way before you are seated, then cooked the remaining 1/3 once you are seated. unfortunately, quality suffers when this method of cooking is employed, as there were parts of our pizza that were burnt, but there was uncooked dough inside the pizza. to add to the lack of qu... read more

Deep Dish Pizza – This is the best deep dish pizza I have had in Chicago. At just about any given time seating takes at least 45 minutes. We had the large deep dish sausage and pepperoni pizza, which gave the four of us two large pieces each. We placed the order while we waited for the table and the pizza was delivered to our table piping hot and fresh. Service was excellent but the "Uno" is small, so don't mind rubbing elbows with the table next to you. Definately a stop for the tourist to Chicago.

Truely #1 pizzeria – 15 year customer and always have great pizza. Place is small, but it's an old Historic Chicago building; they were small back then. You may wait over an hour during peak times; but you know the place is good because people wait to get in. Plus while you wait they take your order. So when you sit down, your food is ready.

#1 in Chicago – You cannot find a better pizzeria anywhere in the world. I go to pizzeria Uno anytime I get the chance. There is nothing like it in the world. It is worth teh wait everythime. It should have been voted #1.
