Deep-dish pizza is synonymous with Chicago and at Pizzeria Uno, the kitchen claims to have invented the famous pie. Lou Malnati may disagree, but nonetheless Pizzeria Uno has played a big part in Chicago culinary history. The pizzeria has since moved around the country as a franchise, but this location is the first. On weekends and during busy summer events, the wait time to get a table can be long, up to two hours sometimes, but it is worth it. The one-of-a-kind crust, loaded thick with toppings make the pizza very hearty; ... read more

The One and Only Uno's - it's simply?the best! – I am from the Chicago area. I have lived away from the area for 30 years. But nearly every time I come back to visit, Uno's is a given! There is no better deep dish pizza. Everything about the place, the wait, the food, the service?it?s all part of the phenomenal experience. I will be visiting in July of 2007, and guess where I'm going without a doubt?I can't wait!!! It's simply the best~
The ORIGINAL Deep Dish!!! How you want it made...may be limited pending where you go =) – The debate on who made the Original Deep Dish pizza rages on. I've been a Chicago native all my 25 years on this planet and I STILL question who's deep dish is the original and who's is the best. After some research and PLENTY of taste tests, I have to say Pizzeria Uno was the FIRST to create the pie-like pizza Chicagoian call "Chicago's Own". With that debate settled, onto how this and other locations and "styles" faired up. For me, I ... read more
Terrible Pizza – This was one of the worst meals we've ever had. So bad, that we stopped at the Chinese place on our walk back to the hotel. We were very disappointed, because we love pizza and thought this would be a great way to finish off our visit to Chicago.
The original Chicago style and the best pizza in the world! – Pizzeria Uno (and Due) is the original Chicago-style deep dish pizza. Do not let the "Bar and Grill" chains fool you; they do not do justice the the original in Chicago. This is the place to go for Chicago's greatest pizza! The food is delicious, but since it is so popular, you might have to wait a while to get seated. The only con is how crowded it gets for being in such a small building.
Don't believe the hype – So i watched Oprah with my girlfriend a month ago and she kept raving about Pizzeria Uno and Due. I planned a trip to Chicago for a week and my co-worker told me not to go to either Pizzeria Uno or Due. Unfortunately, due to time and location, my friends and i decided to check it out. And my co-worker was right, nothing special, nothing interesting. Very simple... like any ordinary pizza. I've had much better in Los Angeles. Maybe i should have asked the locals where they would go instead.
Not really sure what all the fuss is about... – On a recent visit to Chicago, I HAD to FINALLY go to the original Uno. The pizza is good, although I thought the crust on our veggie deep dish was even thicker than is normal on that style. I was disappointed at how small and cramped the restaurant was. It was difficult to have a conversation because everyone was crammed in so tightly. I wouldn't say you shouldn't go here, but once you've been, it's not worth a return visit. Go to Giordano or anywhere else with more spacious se... read more
Traditional deep-dish pizza is worth the wait. – In Short The pies take 45-60 minutes to bake at this low-ceilinged, dark pizza joint, so a host takes orders from customers while they stand in line. It's all deep dish--no thin-crust pizza here--and broccoli is about the most exotic topping you'll find. The pizza arrives dripping with cheese and not too much sauce, and a flaky, crunchy, almost pie-like crust. The menu also features steaks, salads, burgers and pastas.
Uno's Proves Chicago Deep Dish is Dead – First, let's define Pizzeria Uno. There is the original restaurant on Ohio Street in Chicago, its clone restaurant up the street, Pizzeria Due, and then the many franchised Uno restaurants around the nation. The franchised places deliver a mass market product cooked in 15 minutes (not 45 minutes as is the original) and share only the name with the original. Thus we can dispense with them; they are not true Pizzeria Uno and their quality, like their locations, is all over the map. Now ... read more
It's awful – Pizzeria Uno gives Chicago pizza a bad name. No wonder New Yorkers think theirpizza is better. The deep dish pizza I had with a friend was mostly crust, very little cheese, sauce, and sausage, and featured burnt pepperoni on top. This was once a great place, not anymore. Save your money and time and go somewhere else for Chicago style pizza.
Pizzeria Uno has a 4.3 star rating with 106 reviews.
Pizzeria Uno is open now. It will close at 6:00 p.m.
