we went during peak season (pun intended) right before golden hour. As we were ascending, the birch trees were glowing. it was a really windy day, so we could only go up to mile marker 13 and once we were up there we were able to catch a beautiful sunset behind the highest point. I highly recommend this spot during golden hour but keep in mind, the gift shop will likely be closed or near closing once you begin your descent so if you wanted a hot coffee or hot chocolate, you're better to get it on the way up!

Have warm clothes wh you.. hat and good coat to stay warm once you arrive to the top. Drive up slowly - or you’ll get a tummy ache.. beautiful and breathtaking sites! Take pics! Pace yourself. 6 and under may not enjoy the trip up or down- tummy aches / dizzy/ winded and nauseous likely to occur.. But so worth it!! Lol as long as its not too intense. Haha. Enjoy!
