Pass on the pizza – Strolling up Walnut St., we were enticed into the restaurant by the atmosphere. Order pizza, eggplant parm., meatballs. Pizza was not good. No taste, soggy crust, simply tasteless. Meatballs were good, nice size. Eggplant parm. was very good. Would return to try additional menu items but, will steer clear of pizza. NYC joints know how to cook coal oven pizzas.
Coal doesn't compare to "brick" or "wood" ovens – I've eaten at Pietro's off and on for what amounts to over 10 years now.. (wow). Over the years the service has gone up and down but the food is usually pretty good. Everything seems to be made from scratch and is surprisingly affordable -- although that's changed a bit in the past few months. I think that's why even in this climate of economic uncertainty with restaurants all around closing up shop, pietro's still does pretty good business -- especially with the tourists. Ev... read more
Don't Go To Pietro's – I used to go to Pietro's a lot but have been extremely disappointed the past few times I've been there. Maybe it's the economy and the ingredients they're buying, but their food is not as great as it used to be. If you want great pizza, which is MUCH better than Pietro's, try Stella or Osteria. You could even try Slice, which is right around the corner. In addition, the staff at Pietro's is rude, and the waiters and waitresses have not gotten my order correct on multiple occasions. I, too, have dealt w... read more
Pietros sucks! – I have never been treated as awfully as the staff treated me when I dined with my friends at Pietros. We actually left the restaurant because of the horrible and rude manager Tony. Who claims no one is above him and he is the god of the restaurant world. I will never go back to this overpriced rude restaurant. Every time I have been there it is one bad experience after another. Pietros is awful and their pizza is not that great.
Great place in Rittenhouse for pizza/italian food – Pizza's great. Pasta dishes are great. Salads are great. I like the food. I hate sitting in the back during the summer though because it gets too hot. I've never had a problem with their service. Parking is a real pain, but that's center city for you. I've dined their a couple times and would like to go again.
Pietros – I am a professional food taster, and I know food! I have had the best of the best, and boy this place has great pizza! I have eaten here numerous times with family members, and the Pizza is phenomenal. Because of the use fresh ripe plum tomatoes, thehe sauce is sweet. They use fresh bufalo mozerella for all pizzas, and their toppings are great as well. The ambience is nice and overall this restaurant is great for the reasonable prices and has decent ambience. If your new to phillyy, this place is a must.
Worth going put of your way – While driving back to Boston from DC, my son and I decided to make a slight detour and return to Pietro's. The traffic was crazy in the area and my wife was really second-guessing our decision to go out of our way just for pizza - until we arrived and were quickly served. Surprisingly, plenty of metered parking was available one block from the restaurant. The service was extremely attentive and the pizza was first-rate; spicy pepperoni and fresh basil and mozzarella sit atop a slightly sweet sau... read more
Good pizza...skip the apps! – We've always had very good pizza at Pietro's. The crust is nicely charred, the sauce tangy and not sour, the cheese gooey, and with green basil leaves on top, it's one of the better pies in Philly at the moment. The problem lies with the appetizers, including only average calamari and bitter broccoli rabe, as we have yet to find any we like all that much. The service has always been attentive, and although some of the tables are spaced too closely, the atmosphere is generally relaxing. So stick ... read more
Great for Groups – Pietro's is great for large groups....everything is easily shared and portions are HUGE...the only problem here is deciding who's going to take the leftovers home at the end of the night
