DOG LOVERS BEWARE! I do not know how to put into words the disappointment that I have in VCA Victoria and in their staff. We took our beloved black lab Sadie into them for emergency surgery. When we were there we were in panic, my wife being in the medical field knew her prognosis was not good. She told the vet that if he felt like she was unable to be saved to let her go in peace, as hard as that choice would have been because we didn't want our sweet baby in any pain. The vet gave false reassurance and was eager for us to ... read more

I have been using the same veterinary hospital since 1987. The practice has been outstanding with service, happy and competent employees, as well as the most highly credentialed veterinarians with a wealth of knowledge rarely seen. The veterinarians at this facility have had longevity in their work history at this practice. As a healthcare provider, it is well known, approximately 10% of knowledge and skills to practice comes from formal education and the rest comes from clinical practice. This business used to operate incre... read more

Business response:

Sandy, we're disheartened that you feel like there's been a change in our commitment to veterinary care. The service you've described does not align with our standards and what we aim to offer our clients. We can assure you that our team remains dedicated to offering our community quality pet-care services. Client feedback is very meaningful to us, and we welcome the opportunity to connect and discuss your concerns at length. Please feel free to email us at ******@vca.com or call the hospital directly. Thank you.

For almost 7 years I took my Yorkie to VCA. Recently VCA told me to remove 2 teeth to prevent future problems but before we should do the blood work (done 11/12/19) to be sure he could take the anesthesia (done 11/25). Maxy came back coughing. I sent a text and the audio to VCA asking what to do who told me to buy Benadril for children. Maxy died hours later. Just now I was told about the anesthia is done with a tube which could damage the lungs.

Not so much a complaint but a WARNING. Save the 'back story' of what happened and contain your emotion. . . they are not interested. Plan on $100+ walking thru the door. Plan on a 'deposit' of $2000+ if leaving the pet overnight. Plan on a financial shock on the final bill. Pray You never need an 'emergency' vet visit again. These 'care centers' have You by the shorts and are keenly interested in the financials taken care of by-the-doctor in the exam room. They are no different than a Lasix Eye Center or Used car lot.

My elderly dog has Addison's disease and has been on the same dosage of medication for years. I understand as with humans, periodic blood work must be done to confirm correct dosage is being administered. When I called my local office to request an appointment for blood work I was denied. I was told I needed to administer a senior well dog visit at a cost of 400.00+, in fact I should really be administrating these twice a year. I explained I was not interested in that as he was perfectly healthy I just needed blood work to c... read more

We boarded our dog there. She came home malnourished, with sores on both ears and an infected shaved spot on her chest. WHY?? we asked. They couldn't explain and didn't care to either. We had paid $700 for loving and attentive boarding care. We complained and customer service person Ann, for the Watertown, NY, North Country Animal hospital suggested that we made it up. We had paid for a dismissal bath with an ear cleaning among other things. How could the kennel people fail to see the ear sores? When we asked, Ann said that ... read more

Last month, my dog swallowed a small squeaker. After calling another VCA location, they said they could make her vomit and it would cost about $150 and take one hour. However, they said they were busy and recommended taking her to a slightly closer location - this one on Kearny Mesa Rd. I rushed over there, cognizant of the fact that time is of the essence in getting a dog to vomit up a foreign object before it moves into the digestive system. My dog is a very nervous girl and was shaking when she got there. I walked back w... read more

I love the Doctors at the Silverlake, Washington branch. BUT I have had financial difficulties and was behind on payments. I called and paid IN FULL for all 4 of my cats - over $1200 dollars. I only authorized my card to be used 1 time. Instead VCA decided to put my card on file.... charged me a renewal fee for one cat because oh hers expired. Not one time on Friday the 13th of September did they say.... hey your cat is up for renewal you will be charged an additional 69.99 on top of the 1200. I cancelled all accounts and wi... read more

About a year ago my mom and I visit VCA in imperial point Florida. The worst experience of our life. Their vets are rough on your dog and have no regard for the patients human or otherwise. The last time we went there they treated us like garbage. They put in tears refusing to give us the vet we asked for the only one there that is not rough on dogs and put us down. They were being condescending as if we were children needing to be disciplined. The manger and district manager snapped at us got in our faces when trying to exp... read more
