Same experience as the review from 4/30/21 except we have been dealing with it since September. It is unbelievable how they treat military people. Here is the review from Jacqueline. PenFed just rejected our auto loan app on the grounds of delinquent payment. The last late payment on my credit was in Feb. 2020. All my accounts have had an excellent payment history for over a year. Our credit cards are paid in full each month, with one exception which is never late as it is auto-drafted from our account. Our family has been members at this credit union for half a century or more. This is unacceptable.

I feel that it’s my professional duty to leave this review and inform the public about Penfed lending practices, since I am a professional, full time realtor. I have been a Penfed customer since 2017. When I purchased a property in 2017 in Dallas, my realtor recommended to go through them with mortgage financing at that time. That transaction went smooth and closed timely. I also closed another mortgage loan and refi loan with Penfed in 2019 without issue. However, this time is different. I am currently in the process of a refi and it has been disastrous from a customer service level with Penfed mortgage supervisors. We have been PenFed members for numerous years and we were members with Ft Belvoir credit union for several years before it merged into PenFed. We started refinancing our home mortgage with PenFed back on 2/22/21. We previously had no problems with PenFed and the rates were competitive, so we were optimistic about the process. We had someone from PenFed be very proactive during the initial application paperwork phase and scheduled a closing date of 4/22. I've been with Penfed since 2009. Always a great place to bank. I am stunned by the low rating on here - they've always been professional, courteous, helpful. Just slightly below Navy Federal and that's high praise.

I tried to do a streamlined VA refinance with them, but it never worked out. Their rates were very good, but after being strung along for 2.5 months with almost no communication on their end, I finally gave up. I read a lot of similar reviews before I started, but I didn't think it would be that bad. Sometimes more than a week would pass before my loan officer would even respond to my email. He still hasn't to the last one.

This credit union has been trying to contact me about refinancing a mortgage I have never had for a very long time. When I called to tell them to stop I was juggled between phone queues and even asked for my FULL social security number. When I FINALLY got somebody to answer me I was told they can't remove me from their marketing list. That is complete BS.
