I submitted a mortgage loan application over two weeks ago to be pre-qualified and never received a response. I’ve tried contacting them numerous times and received the run around with an automated system, promise call backs never received and never received an email or follow up to my application. I received a notification that they did in fact check my credit but for what!??? This is absurd especially when you are trying to purchase a home. Very poor customer service 0/10 recommend.

The worst experience refinancing my car, beware of this Bank. I applied for a car refinance loan, was approved and was sent 2 check to my house in the wrong amount. One was issued in my name and the other was issued in my name and the banks name. Both checks were refused by the bank because of those issues. Called them and they said they would redo the loan. Waited over 2 weeks with no response. Called them again, agent said they would send the money to the bank by the end of business day. waited 5 days and nothing. Called t... read more

Left PenFed after almost 20 years. They will move you into credit cards you don't want; increase your spend limit without your permission; charge you erroneously; say they'll remove the charge and don't; you'll get a late payment on your credit report for the erroneous charge that is their fault but they'll say the late payment should stay on your credit report; they will never let you speak with anyone in their dispute center; their dispute center approves/denies disputes with no real input from you and without the whole st... read more

BEWARE OF PENFED. SYAY AWAY FROM THIS SO CALLED PENTAGON FEDERAL CREDIT UNION. MY NAME IS ROMEO AND THIS IS MY WORSE ENCOUNTER EVER WITH A FINANCIAL INSTITUTION. Their Mortgage and Auto Loan department are horrible. I can't believe they are called "Credit Union " more importantly "pentagon Federal Credit Union ". I am Penfed customer for more than 10 years. Recently I refinanced my mortgage from different company and got payoff statement from Penfed to close my loan. I was giving amount to close my loan so I provided this amount to my new mortgage company. Loan was paid off on Feb 1st. I checked my penfed online account to see if my account is paid off or not after 5 days. It was not closed and showing same amount due. I called Penfed and my new title company to check with Penfed. I spoke with a loan officer today by the name of Hymie. I have never dealt with a more rude individual in my life. I can say without hesitation that I will never again patronize Pen Fed for any needs whether it be banking, credit, loans, etc. If this is the kind of people they employ and are satisfied with that type of rudeness, I’ll be doing business elsewhere. We had a very messy, stressful, expensive, and wasteful experience with PenFed trying to obtain a residential mortgage for our first home. In the last-minute, we had to go with another lender to save our contract and purchase. PenFed missed the deadline for our mortgage commitment letter, despite multiple assurances (up until 4pm the day it was due!) that the letter would be provided. We have been Penfed Members for over 20 years. Over 6 months ago we started a refi. loan, They already have the original loan, again, six months of putting us off. We could have closed with anyone months ago. .... they have pulled our credit numerous times. What a huge mistake we made.. When I say they are horrible, trust me, they are! T.
