Just got a letter from our homeowners insurance that we are up for cancellation for known payment. Flagstar. pays are insurance and town taxes and hadn't been paying our insurance for 5 months even though they were deducting the money out of checking account. It is all settled as of today. But very aggravating..

HORRIBLE experience with Escrow Holdback. At first I was forgiving because I was told that someone in the department had left unexpectedly. Fine, I get it, you might have to play catch up for a short time. But now it's long past that point. Both the contractor and I have been emailing and calling Escrow Holdback with no response, and it's to the point that I have to pay thousands out of pocket to the contractor or have a lien put on the property. This is completely unacceptable! The contractor and I have been MORE than patie... read more

Horrible "customer service"! Flagstar Bank sent my HO insurance payment from my escrow account to the wrong carrier and THEN sent me a letter saying that my insurance had lapsed. Multiple calls between myself, my insurance agent and Flagstar every day for the past TWO WEEKS and the issue is still not resolved. Each conversation is with a different Flagstar rep, so we have to bring each one up to speed with the situation. Each time, it results in the rep not being able to resolve the situation and referring us to a supervisor... read more

I have to call every month for the past 7 month to have someone apply funds correctly. I gave a very simple direction multiple times - "any extra payment I make is to go to principal". They continue to put extra payments to the stupid "Suspense Account" instead of to the principal as directed multiple times. This throw off my book and I have to continuously call every month to tell them to move money to the principal. It also takes more than a week for them to complete the simple task. I'd certainly not recommend this bank t... read more

If I could leave 0 stars I would. I had no previous experience with this bank but unfortunately my auto loan was at a Northern Wells Fargo that was purchased by Flagstar. Since I had no experience with this bank I had no good or bad expectations. Every time I call it takes 5-6 transfers to get to the correct department and those who are transferring you are not educated in the terminology needed for loans. I asked 4 different people if they could see if I had Gap insurance and 3 of them weren't sure what it was and transferr... read more

Business response:

I will update. After a long period of time I found a representative that actually found the correct department and I am now making progress with my request. The representative agreed that the number of transfers and individuals who did not know where to send me was poor business and said she would proceed with communicating the issues to management.
