About this business

Prohibition ended in Nebraska on August 9th, 1933, and Ole's opened at 12:01 the next day. Since then, we've been known as the bar in Paxton with great food and unusual decor. Over the years, our founder, the great outdoorsman Ole Herstedt, embarked on adventures in big game hunting that took him to every continent. For 35 years, he brought his trophy mounts home and hung them above the bar tables and booths: a moose from Canada, a python from Honduras, and even an iconic polar bear! Had a filet that was incredibly tough... a filet! Price was too expensive to receive bad food. NONE of the staff wore masks or gloves (COVID).

Whenever we're coming back to Omaha after visiting family in Colorado, we make sure to stop in for dinner - great food - it was my 2yr old son's first time and he loved it!

Great place to stop about 1/2 way between Denver and Omaha. Less than a mile off I-80. Unique atmosphere, very inexpensive food, very friendly staff, home cooked meal. Fed a family of 7 for $72 including drinks and a 20% tip. (We spend $50+ on fast food.) Homemade mashed potatoes, home cut fries, excellent pork tenderloin, wish it had been dinner time to try the prime rib. Will definitely make a point to stop again.
