This upscale restaurant offers fine American fare. Photographs of many famous patrons, including military, political and sports figures, who have dined at the Occidental grace the walls. The entry level feels like a club, with a large bar, dark paneling and leather seats. The upstairs dining room is more formal with large booths, a small bar, and the patio overlooking Pennsylvania Avenue offers a wonderful view of the Capitol. Grilled meats and fish are the specialty. Lighter entrees are available as well.

We went this past weekend for brunch. Teo of us had the beef short rib with an egg and grits. It was cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. My husband had the petit filet and eggs. The filet was not cooked to medium but he still thought it was very good. We started with cheese platter and yummy bread basket. Always have enjoyed the venue.
A bit disappointed ! Our 31st plus Anniversary. Shared on reservation! Zero acknowledgement with a $200 tab. Spent last year with Oceanaire who went above and beyond for our special occasion! Our food was good but not great! Soup cold. I hope it was a bad night with the recent construction and reno! I love our historical sites but ..........you only get one Anniversary every year!

Food was delicious, service was excellent. Fine dining, so if you have a huge appetite this is not for you. Also had a few drinks in the bar before dinner, great place to relax. The dark and stormy's went down rather well.
