The upstairs dining room is more formal with large booths, a small bar, and the patio overlooking Pennsylvania Avenue offers a wonderful view of the Capitol. Grilled meats and fish are the specialty. The food was good but it was the worst service I’ve ever had in my life. Ordered a beer and a mixed drink. 10 minutes later he comes back and asked what we ordered for drinks. We also wanted refills on our beer/hard drinks but he never came back. It took nearly 30 minutes to order food, someone else delivered food, and we never saw our waiter again till I got up and asked 3 other waiters for my check. RecommendedHad Saturday brunch; Crab cake sandwich and Duck and waffles were amazing! Cherry Blossom dessert was a delicious work of art! Impeccable service. Beautiful restoration of an historic restaurant!
We celebrated my mother’s birhday here last night, it was absolutely fantastic. The service, the atmosphere and most importantly, the food was wonderful! We had the gnocchi and caeser salad as apps, both were fabulous. We had the strip steak, per the recommendation of our server, which was seasoned to perfection! The duck breast was flavorful and plentiful prepared at medium. Dessert, the chocolate bar, was very rich but yummy also. I don’t have a complaint truly. Will be back!

The Occidental was beautiful....Starr enjoyed a flight of Belvedere. I traveled the Highland Scotches, along with an incredible meal, Lexi Kaye and Hailey had fun as well.
