This upscale restaurant offers fine American fare. Photographs of many famous patrons, including military, political and sports figures, who have dined at the Occidental grace the walls. The entry level feels like a club, with a large bar, dark paneling and leather seats. The upstairs dining room is more formal with large booths, a small bar, and the patio overlooking Pennsylvania Avenue offers a wonderful view of the Capitol. Grilled meats and fish are the specialty. Lighter entrees are available as well.

I came up to visit some friends in Maryland and we decided to spend the day in DC. We walked around for a while in the cold, and after finally deciding on a place chose Occidental Grill & Seafood. It was chilly outside but we had a cute table next to a heater and after a glass of wine was warmed right up!
