I loaded $130 onto a NetSpend card, thinking it would provide a little security when purchasing Christmas gifts from unverified websites. Within 45 mins of loading the card, I was told that the brand new account I just opened was locked. They claimed that someone used me as a secondary cardholder on a different account, and that I was not allowed to have an account. I purchased a prepaid card to give as a birthday gift.The person I gave it to had a hard time activating it. When they thought it was activated and tried to use it... it didn't work. I took the card back and replaced it with a more reliable gift card. I tried to activate it myself and it keeps saying that the account number is not valid.
