After detailed discussion with the company prior to buying a house, a policy was set that both aligned with my needs and what was required in order to obtain my mortgage. I have been with Nationwide for over 11yrs but recently canceled. I have a child that just got his license and nationwide decides to add him to my insurance without contacting me first. I look at my bill and see it went from $170 to ****near $400. I called my agency to see what's going on and they tell me that the underwriters added him because he got his license and it's too late for me to cancel my payment that is scheduled to be automatically deducted from my account the following business day. DON'T EVER GET AN AUTO LOAN WITH NATIONWIDE BANK! 1) They are the only bank I ever had to sign a POWER OF ATTORNEY (Especially after they already gave me the loan, They Jack up the interest rate if you don't sign) 2) A balance transfer check had been paid towards my loan which never posted (but had cleared issuing bank). I'm currently having an horrible experience with Nation wide insurance. I got into an accident about 4 weeks ago and still haven't had an ajuster look at my car and I make a final decision on whether it will be a total lost or fix it. They first ask me to take it to one of they body to do an estimate. I drove my car to the body shop, after the estimate was done, the body shop was waiting on nation to wide to find out what the next step will be. We have had Home owners insurance with a company called Allied for over 30 years including through three separate forest fires in Colorado. In that time we've had no claims and always paid on time. At some point last year, Nationwide took over Allied. Apparently someone drove by our house and took pictures of our house and surrounding area. Within the year Nationwide cancelled our house insurance based on their claim that we have trees 100 feet from our house. 100 feet! Since I informed the carrier that my 10 week poppy was taking antibiotic due to a minor infection, nothing major, I received an email that since that was a pre existing condition it will be excluded from coverage. Nationwide has lost our trust and respect permanently, as we were just informed that our homeowners policy was canceled based on "drive-by observations" of features that our property does not even contain. A "crumbling chimney" and "weathered detached garage" were cited during the call that we initiated when attempting to make a monthly payment. We have no chimney and no detached garage. No notice, no proof, and no willingness to re-evaluate the situation. Bizarre, but I'm happy to give my money to someone else.
I have had Nationwide Auto Insurance for over 15 years, and I have never had a problem. When my car was hit by a drunk driver, Nationwide paid for the repairs and then they in turn, went after the other insurance company for reimbursement. Within a matter of a week, I had my own car back, fixed like new. Thank you Nationwide!

I have been with this Nationwide auto insurance company for over 6 months without ever having to use them. My driving record is clean and they decide to raise my rates anyway. I call to complain and they tell me they offer a discount for the first 6 months and then it goes away without any notification to the customer. I was not made aware of any discounts when buying or any raises in rates after the first 6 months.
