A stunning day on the Grand Union Canal and a perfect chance to switch off from everyday life. It was such a lovely opportunity to enjoy the peace and quiet, take in the scenery, and reconnect as a family. We’re from North London and took the train down from Euston for this, half thinking it might be a bit overhyped — but it genuinely delivered. There’s something quite funny about going from busy London to suddenly all of you trying to steer a boat together. Perfect family day out on the canal! We hired a boat for a family day trip — our very first time doing anything like this — and it was a brilliant experience from start to finish. The owners were warm and welcoming, explained everything clearly, and had us feeling confident on the water straight away. Fantastic way to experience something a bit different. The boats are well maintained and easy to handle, even for beginners, and the whole process feels smooth and well organised. A really enjoyable day out with a relaxed pace and great scenery along the way, plus the kids loved it!
