Best Sushi in Pittsburgh – My fiance raves about sushi, but I had never tried it. We went to Nakama on the South Side and now I am a sushi fan! I tried a couple different dishes and was blown away. Everything was so fresh and the presentation was beautiful. The service was wonderful and the atmosphere was clean, zen-like, and relaxing. I've been back several times since my first sushi experience and have never been disappointed. I highly recommend Nakama for long-time sushi lovers and those who want to try it for the first t... read more

Good food, but poor service! – I got the email too about getting a $10 certificate, but I decided to be honest instead. The last time I was there was in December for my friend's birthday. She had a reservation, and it was an hour and a half after her reservation that we were even seated. It was extremely crowded in the little waiting area, very uncomfortable, and the wait staff was extremely rude to us. I was late to a Christmas party because the whole ordeal took almost three hours. If we didn't have a reservation, I could ... read more

Best Martini and Sushi in PIttsburgh! – You wont find better sushi in the city- or martinis. The sexpotini is my favorite! Their ahi tuna is out of this world too! When you walk in to Nakama you'll forget that you are in Pittsburgh- you'll thin you're somewhere like NYC or Miami--you wont find an atmosphere like this anywhere else in the 'burgh!

Best Japanese Steakhouse in town! – I recently ate at Nakama and it was one of the best dinners I have had for months. The food is amazing, the prices are low especially for the amount of food you get!!! The atmosphere is wonderful because everybody is so funny and the chefs are very entertaining. It is now mine and my girlfriends favorite Japanese Steakhouse!!! I would Highly Recommend this restaraunt to anyone!

Superb Service, Selection and Satisfaction Guaranteed – My family and I (9 adults and 5 children)visited on a Sunday evening following a Steeler game and were very pleased. The waitstaff and chef were extremly firndly and family oriented. The food was outstanding and the prices were very reasonable. I would definitely recommend this establishment to anyone looking for EXCELLENT meal and a GREAT time.

A Happy Customer – My son goes to school in Pittsburgh, and when I visit we almost always go to Nakamas for the sushi. The service has always been good, and sometimes even entertaining. We are VIP members. I read the negative review, and must say I agree that the coupons should be good for the sushi bar as well. My coupon experience was that when I asked our waiter to honor it at the sushi bar, he asked management, and then gave us a full $20 credit on our bill. That would be my only suggestion to management - to make those ... read more

Worst service. – Before I moved to Pittsburgh, a friend took me to Nakama. While there, I signed up for their VIP club or whatever they call it. After spending considerable amounts of money there in the sushi bar, they sent me a $20 gift certificate for my birthday. When I tried to use the gift certificate in the sushi bar, the waitress would not honor it. She told me that it was only good for "dinner," and "dinner" was only served in the "dining room." I was shocked. When I eat sushi in a "sushi room" after 6 pm and pay way... read more

See and be seen – Nakama is for the 21-41 crowd looking to "mingle" and to see and be seen. If it is an appetite that you are looking to satisfy, then Nakama has a pretty extensive menu. Whether it be sushi or the habachi grill there is something for everyone--and if you pay attention, you can find some good deals i.e. Bobs special for $19 on Tuesdays (I think that's the right night). For me, I get sick everytime I eat the grill items--so I stick to sushi. My husband on-the-other-hand, never has a 'problem' and always enjoys... read more

There are better Japanese Steakhouses. – Nakama Japanese Steakhouse did not honor our reservation in a timely fashion on June 10, 2006. We had to wait 35 minutes past our arrival at 7 pm. Even with that delay, we had to continially request to be seated. The food was slightly above average. Our waiter and chef were helpful to special diet needs (low sodium). The management and hosts were unhelpful and surly. While waiting to be seated we had to beg for someone to take a drink order. Needless to say, we won't be dining there a... read more
