This world-famous, rock-cut sculpture by Gutzon Borglum is one of the United States' best known landmarks. The 60-foot-tall (18-meter-tall) faces of four of America's greatest presidents - George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln - look down from their lofty perch above the luxuriant forests of the Black Hills. Remarkable in their likeness to the presidents, Mount Rushmore is as much a monumental artistic marvel as it is a cultural gem. These four presidents were chosen by the artist himsel... read more

I went for the Fourth & was disappointing that there was no firework display...
My family first visited Mt. Rushmore in July of 2003. After that, whenever we go to other historical places in nearby states, we always find a way to stop by Black Hills to once again see it. There's, personally, that special sense of "American pride" every time I'm within the site. I know that one part that draws me in is the clean & welcoming atmosphere of the memorial site, a well organized parking place, accommodating staff & the delicious food in their restaurant. You just have everything to comfortably satisfy your bas... read more
Perfect place to visit in the summer. Great monument and great auxillary activities while there. Also not far from great food, Rapid City and Crazy Horse
My wife and I had a awesome time. Great concert by the USAF academy band. Mt Rushmore is one of my favorite places to go on vacation.
It's gorgeous!! Lots of traffic but who's in a hurry. We traveled Madison junction to mammoth falls around to canyon village back to Madison junction so we could avoid traffic to old faithful. Leaving the park through the east entrance the lakes are beautiful and we had a rainbow finish.
Drove in from Cheyenne with family visiting from out-of-town. All I can say is wow... We had an absolute fantastic time. I've been stationed FE Warren AFB for nearly 4 years and I can honestly say I truly regret not coming here before. At just over 4 hrs, the drive was beautiful and all of the quaint small town and shops along the way make for an exciting adventure with the ultimate highlight closing out the drive. It was July 4th weekend and, as expected, the monument was busy. But not annoyingly crowded, as had been the ca... read more
What a fantastic place to visit! The sculptures of these amazing presidents are epic in stature! The emotions invoked as you walk through the columns flanked with our nation's flags and engraved names are exhilarating. I don't know if you could be any more proud to be an American after experiencing Mt. Rushmore. Take on the brief video capturing the creation of this monumental creation. Walk the President's Trail to get a closer view. Visit the Sculptor's studio for a peek at the Hall of Records behind Lincoln's head! Dine a... read more
