I went last Thursday when it was raining, and it was such a great tour and the guide was able to answer all of my questions. The gardens are lovely and it's great that they grow vegetables to use in the cafe. I think my favorite part has to be the design of the dining room. Everything is created so it can be easily stowed away, there is a pulley to bring up the wine, and the bright yellow color is fantastic! (Monticello Yellow by Ralph Lauren, if anyone was curious.) Highly recommend!

It will be 1 year ago June that I had the opportunity to spend two full days in and around Monticello. The Erudite of his era... What else can be said. Thomas Jefferson had just a few more attributes than his fellow founding brothers. Very fascinating man, maybe a contradiction of sorts, just maybe Joseph E. Ellis's "American Sphinx" said all that needs to be said.

In my visit I really really enjoyed the estate, but I was saddened by the distortion of this great man. Yes he owned slaves, but to paint this man only on this aspect is a disservice to history and this country.

My boyfriend and I did the behind the scenes tour. It was intimate and small groups. The guide we had was amazing and knowledgable. We recommend coming early. Once you do the house tour it is easy to explore the surrounding sights on the grounds.

Perhaps America's grandest house. And UVA, the Jefferson museum, downtown Charlottesville, & the Blue Ridge Mts. are all close by. A terrific weekend trip. (LafayetteSquareTourOfScandalAssassinationIntrigue)

Fabulous trip no matter who you bring, however when with your love it is quite a treat! Throughly enjoyed my winter visit here! Never seen it except in summer before today!

We had a chance to take a tour of Monticello with the Grandkids. Hadn't been there since our kids were small. Wonderful place, so much to do in this area.
