Not as I remember it 15 years ago. To many non-period things!
This is by far the most impressive of all the "Dead President's homes. The tours were done well with the guide very knowledgeable and well spoken. The facility was excellent with many upgrades and improvements since our earlier visit.
We were there last month and thought the restoration was superb and interesting life too!
Well worth the time and money. Even the cafe chicken salad croissant was delish!
My husband and I loved the tour of the house and the gardens. The staff did an excellent job presenting a multifaceted picture of Thomas Jefferson's genius. The human story told on the Slavery Tour showed how complex and conflicted President Jefferson was on the topic of slavery. Monticello is stunning!
It was an amazing journey through history. I was really surprised how walking the grounds stirred up so many emotions. My only complaint is the lack of emphasis, attention given to the graveyard of Jefferson's slaves. You almost have to stumble upon it or you'll never know it's here. Disrespectful that it is literally part of the parking lot.

Monticello engages the public and the professional world by hosting numerous events. Yesterday's event, the Heritage Harvest Festival, brought together many different people and offered an opportunity to learn about history, planting, diet, and culinary tradition. Paired with the caliber of the grounds, scenery, and architecture, any event at Monticello is bound to be worth every minute.
This is such a lovely site and sight! Loved the Seed Exchange event except for the parking issues. The gardens are a wonder, so wish it was mine.
