Correction--Universities were not historical actors at the time of slavery--They were active PARTICIPANTS---Brown-Harvard -Yale and the University of the South through the Franklin-Armfield market in Alexandria
Founding Father home and great place to learn about the history of Thomas Jefferson. The grounds are beautiful. A guy place to bring the family and kids .
We had a great time. I’d like to go back in the spring or summer and spend some more time to see the gardens and wander the grounds more, but the winter prices made it a great deal for a two hour stop during our day trip to Charlottesville!
The Monticello plant in Kentucky steals from its employees, let Supervisors look underneath the bathroom stall at you. Signs you up for a 401(k) without your knowledge. Just an awful place to work at having, with the supervisor on drugs themselves. At least I smoke pots and not take pills meth and heroin!
Breathtaking. Not just the house itself (although it is) and its history, but everything coming together. World class staff, guides, organisers, shop workers, bus drivers, customer service folks, everyone. Perfect day.
Stunning view, well accommodating to handicapped. I would of loved to be able to walk around more. The area is beautiful with much to see.
Beautifully maintained, well-informed staff, convenient shuttles, lovely gift shop.
Visited twice and absolutely loved the fascinating history of an arguably controversial figure. The architecture, grounds, the expansive gardens and the memorial to the slaves that lived there.
I went on ,a History vacation.Went to see Madison's plantation "Montpelier"and Monticello....Both Faboulous!!!!Absolute five stars
